World Language Class Project: Hotel & Travel Review Project
Engage students with this comprehensive world language hotel & travel review project. Learners review essential travel vocabulary, plan a trip, design a group itinerary, and create dialogues for hotel reservations or check-ins. Includes extension activities, cultural elements, and useful vocabulary lists for meaningful practice in the target language.
Step 1: Vocabulary Check-In
Begin by reviewing your hotel and travel vocabulary in the target language.
- Use the vocabulary resources provided to practice terms related to hotels, travel, and transportation.
- Complete vocabulary review activities or quizzes in class centers.
- Create flashcards for each vocabulary word and quiz yourself:
- Make two piles: words you know and words you need to review.
- Focus on the review pile.
- Practice with a partner using the prompt: “How do you say…?”
- Take turns quizzing each other with 5 words at a time or go through the full set.

Step 2: Plan Your Trip
- Choose a destination — any real or imaginary place in the world.
- Find a hotel in that location (real or invented).
- Research transportation options: plane, train, bus, car, etc.
- Select six activities you would do at your destination.
- Find three restaurants where you could eat.
Step 3: Create Your Group Itinerary
Work with your group to create a detailed travel itinerary that includes:
- Hotel information
- Transportation plans
- Daily activities
- Restaurant visits
You may design your itinerary in Google Slides, PowerPoint, or as a printable poster.
Step 4: Dialogues and Practice
Write and practice a dialogue in the target language for making a hotel reservation or checking into a hotel.
Then:
- Memorize and perform your dialogue without reading directly from the script.
- Include culturally appropriate greetings, polite expressions, and travel vocabulary.
Step 5: Extension Options
Choose one or more of the following extension activities:
- Watch a short video about hotels or travel in the target language.
- Complete a vocabulary crossword or word search to reinforce terms.
- Write a short paragraph or essay describing a trip (real or imaginary).
- Challenge Option: Add a section about hotel complaints or problems in the target language for extra practice.
