Welcome to the 5-Week Linguist Show. In this episode, we will talk about writing sub plans as a language teacher and what independent learners can do when a teacher is not available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(00:42) \u2013 If you\u2019re lucky, get a teacher who speaks the language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(01:04) \u2013 It\u2019s challenging to write sub plans as a language teacher. You want them to learn, you don\u2019t want to waste time, and It takes a lot of guidance towards beginners to start learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(01:36) \u2013 Hard topics bring about feelings of inadequacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(02:04) \u2013 We have to use time effectively to get them to learn as much as we want them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(02:31) \u2013 I have the Five Pillars of sub plans for language teachers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(03:02) \u2013 First, we will talk about flashcards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(04:26) \u2013 You can take words, and from there, students can play concentration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(05:55) \u2013 You can \u201cplay\u201d them like the Go-Fish style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(06:22) \u2013 It can be an interactive quiz, a guessing game, or even finding pairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(07:45) \u2013 It is a simple way to learn an interactive and fun set of new vocabularies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(08:15) \u2013 Drawings are an effective way to learn a language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(08:35) \u2013 The point is not the art, but understanding the meaning of the word deeply and interacting with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(09:50) \u2013 Drawings are interactive when you do this with a student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(10:36) \u2013 Conversations can become a dramatization, role play, or skit, depending on how it\u2019s done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(11:14) \u2013 It can be quite difficult for beginners when these things are considered into sub plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(12:36) \u2013 They can do this as a review of some of the conversations you\u2019ve had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(13:10) \u2013 Memorizing tends to work well with people at the novice level once they really get into it. Though it takes a while for them to learn, they can do it without a piece of paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
